The Job
Reporting to the Group Legal & Compliance Officer, you will oversee the compliance team to ensure adherence to standards, mitigate risks, and uphold the organisation's reputation as the primary escalation point. Your duties will include:
- Leading the AML Compliance Programme, ensuring alignment with legislative requirements and group standards; providing strategic direction and recommending policy improvements.
- Managing and supporting the Compliance team, setting performance objectives, and acting as the primary escalation point for Enhanced Customer Due Diligence investigations.
- Conducting regular AML/CTF risk assessments, implementing compliance monitoring, and collaborating on optimising compliance systems.
- Developing, reviewing, and updating policies and procedures to address financial crime, regulatory changes, and industry-specific risks.
- Delivering training programmes to enhance staff awareness of AML/CTF regulations and fostering a compliance-focused culture.
- Ensuring the quality and efficiency of compliance processes, supporting initiatives for operational improvements, and conducting control testing.
- Handling complex compliance escalations and providing regular updates on risks, investigations, and team activities to senior leadership.
You
To be successful in this role, you will need experience in the following areas:
- Degree-qualified in Law, Compliance, or a related field, with certification as a compliance professional preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in AML/CTF within a regulated industry sector.
- Proven ability to develop and implement Compliance Management Frameworks, lead effective compliance teams and foster a strong compliance culture.
- Extensive understanding of AML/CTF legislation, regulatory standards and AUSTRAC requirements.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to engage with senior management, regulators, and stakeholders.
